Introducing In Good Company: Local People Worth Knowing

Since opening The Welcome Table, our community has supported it in ways we could not have fully anticipated.

People have stopped by to ask questions, share their experiences, make connections and sometimes simply sit down and say hello. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has joined us and helped turn a simple idea into such a warm and welcoming part of our week.

Your response also showed us something important: people value having a comfortable place to find useful information, meet trusted local professionals and have honest conversations without pressure or a sales pitch.

So, we decided to do more.

I’m delighted to introduce In Good Company, a new series from The Welcome Table featuring the local experts, creatives and business owners who make life in San Miguel easier, more interesting and more connected.

Local People Worth Knowing

One of the greatest pleasures of living in San Miguel de Allende is discovering the people who help make life here work.

They are the problem-solvers, creatives, independent business owners and local experts whose names we find ourselves passing along to friends. They know how things work, understand the particular realities of living here and are generous with what they know.

In Good Company will introduce more people to them through relaxed, informal meet-and-greets. You can pop in, say hello, ask questions, learn something new or schedule time for additional help.

There will be no formal presentations, no intimidation and no hard sales. The idea is simply to bring good people together and make useful local knowledge easier to find.

Our First Guest: Michael Wilbanks-Bepko

We’re launching the series with Michael Wilbanks-Bepko of MWB Tech Solutions, who provides expert technology support in English.

If something with a screen or signal is making you slightly crazy, Michael is probably the person you want to meet.

He helps with Wi-Fi that refuses to reach the back room, televisions that won’t stream shows from home, misbehaving phones and laptops, rebellious printers, cameras, smart locks and other home technology.

Michael also understands the technology challenges that can accompany living in another country, including accessing home-country streaming services, banking and calls. He explains things clearly, without jargon or judgment, which is exactly what most of us need when the printer has once again decided it no longer recognizes our existence.

Come meet Michael, ask him your technology questions, discuss a larger project or arrange a time for him to help you. No appointment is needed to stop by, and everyone is welcome.

More Good Company Ahead

This first gathering is only the beginning.

We have many wonderful meet-and-greets planned, and In Good Company will occasionally leave its usual home at The Welcome Table for pop-ups around San Miguel.

In October, we’ll pop up at the Erin Adams Design Studio. In November, we’ll gather with Suki Palomina. We also have more local experts, creative spaces and interesting collaborations to introduce in the months ahead.

At its heart, In Good Company is about connection: meeting people worth knowing, finding trustworthy help and creating more opportunities for useful, easy conversation.
