The San Miguel Wellness Movement: A Conversation with the Founder of Poser Creative

One of the things I've discovered while working on this series is that wellness in San Miguel doesn't fit neatly into a single definition.

For some people, wellness looks like strength, movement, and learning to reconnect with your body through practices like Pilates. For others, it looks like slowing down, becoming still, and creating space to listen.

That's what drew me to Poser Creative.

I've always been fascinated by the different ways people find healing, and sound baths have become an increasingly visible part of San Miguel's wellness community. What I didn't expect was the story behind the woman who brought one of the city's most unique sound bath experiences to life.

What brought you to San Miguel, and what made you decide to plant your wellness practice here?

Like many people who eventually make San Miguel home, her story began with a visit.

About four years ago, she came here with her son to attend the wedding of his open-water swim coach, someone they both cherished deeply. Life in Los Angeles was busy, full, and demanding, but missing the wedding was never an option.

When they arrived, they took a twilight stroll through Centro.

"We arrived into Centro for the first time and took a twilight stroll. Bathed in the light of an unbelievable golden hour, it felt as though we were being handed a roadmap to our destiny."

I immediately understood what she meant. So many of us have a version of that story.

Before the evening was over, she and her son looked at one another and decided that one day they would live here.

Over the next several years they returned every summer, and each time she brought her crystal bowls with her.

"The energy was so powerful. Deeply grounding and also expansive."

One of her first clients in San Miguel was a creative business owner who encouraged her to bring her work here permanently. This was before the wellness boom had really taken hold, and by the time she officially arrived and opened her studio, San Miguel's wellness community was beginning to flourish.

Describe what you do in one sentence, but make it feel like how you'd explain it to a friend at a dinner party.

Her answer was simple and direct.

"I have a crystal sound bath studio in San Miguel where I play alchemy crystal sound bowls for deep, blissful relaxation. I also host events, workshops, and trainings."

Simple on the surface.

But as anyone who has experienced a sound bath knows, the experience itself is anything but ordinary.

What does a session with you actually feel like?

"A session with me is a beautiful and unique experience."

Guests arrive and settle into a carefully prepared space filled with mats, blankets, pillows, eye pillows, crystals, and all of the small details that make people feel instantly cared for. The room smells beautiful. The pace immediately slows.

She begins with gentle breathing exercises designed to help regulate the nervous system and bring people into the present moment.

Once everyone is settled, the sound journey begins.

For about thirty-five minutes, the harmonious frequencies of crystal alchemy bowls fill the room. Some people drift into deep meditative states. Some fall asleep. Others describe feeling as though they're dreaming.

Many leave surprised by how powerful such a simple experience can be.

"It's a very personal experience. You get what you need in that moment. It's a gift of stillness and an opportunity to meet yourself exactly where you are, blissfully."

I loved that answer because it feels like the opposite of so much of modern life. Nothing to achieve. Nothing to perfect. Nothing to perform.

Just space.

Who is your ideal client, and what do people usually walk away with that they weren't expecting?

Her answer was refreshingly inclusive.

"My ideal client is anyone who is curious, looking to relax, and willing to gift themselves a new experience."

Her clients come from all walks of life. Different ages. Different professions. Different levels of wellness experience.

What consistently surprises people is how deeply they respond to sound.

Some clients see colors. Some experience creative breakthroughs. Some find themselves processing emotions they didn't realize they were carrying. Others simply enjoy forty minutes of the deepest rest they've had in months.

"Some feel profound shifts in emotions. Some just get a gorgeous forty minutes of deep sleep."

What struck me most was her belief that each person receives exactly what they need.

No two experiences are the same.

San Miguel is having a serious wellness moment right now. Why do you think this city is fertile ground for this kind of work?

This answer felt uniquely San Miguel.

"The energy in SMA is so unique. It's a vortex of powerful energy where the separation between heavenly and earthly energy is very thin."

Whether you view that through a spiritual lens or simply as part of San Miguel's undeniable magic, it's hard to argue that this city has a special quality.

She spoke about the creativity, the beauty, the pace of life, and the feeling that so many people experience when they arrive here.

Mexico itself is rich in crystal and mineral deposits, and she believes there is something meaningful about that connection.

"I believe the quartz beneath San Miguel called me and my quartz bowls here."

It's a beautiful thought, and one that feels perfectly at home in a city where so many people arrive searching for something they can't quite name.

What's one thing you wish more people understood about sound baths?

Before becoming a practitioner, she was a client.

That experience shaped everything that came after.

"I am a walking testimonial to the life-changing benefits of frequent sound bathing."

She is passionate about the growing body of scientific research exploring the restorative effects of sound and music on the nervous system and overall well-being.

"I wish people understood its potential to change lives. It's why I do what I do."

What's next for you and your practice?

Like many of the entrepreneurs I've met in San Miguel, she's full of ideas and excited about what's ahead.

An upcoming destination sound bowl training retreat will bring students to San Miguel for an immersive experience that combines learning, community, and the unique energy of this city.

If you've ever been curious about sound baths, wellness, or simply creating more stillness in your life, this may be someone worth knowing.

And if this series has taught me anything so far, it's that San Miguel's wellness movement isn't being driven by trends. It's being built by passionate people who genuinely believe in helping others live healthier, more intentional lives.

For the founder of Poser Creative, that work begins with something remarkably simple.

Listening.
