Casa Entre Árboles: garden and architecture

“I Didn’t Find It. I Built It.”

A conversation with the owner of Casa Entre Árboles

Some homes find their owners. Others are willed into existence by someone who knows exactly what they want. Casa Entre Árboles is the second kind. Its owner didn’t browse listings until something clicked. He had a vision, built toward it, and the result is a home that lives differently than almost anything else in San Miguel.

We sat down with him to talk about what drew him here, what he built, and what he’ll carry with him when he goes.

What first drew you to San Miguel, and what made you decide to stay?

“At first it was the look of the place, the architecture, the light. But what made me stay was how livable it is. The pace is better, the weather works, and you actually spend time outside instead of just moving between interiors.”

Casa Entre Árboles interior and garden connection

What made you choose this home over everything else you saw?

“I didn’t find it, I built it. The goal was simple: make the garden the focus, not an afterthought. Most houses here treat outdoor space as something extra. This one is built around it. Every room connects back to it in some way.”

What did it feel like the first time you walked through the door?

“It felt the way I wanted it to — open, calm, and connected to the outside. You’re aware of the garden right away. It’s not something you discover later, it’s part of the experience from the start.”

Casa Entre Árboles design details

Describe the house in three words — then tell us why.

Connected. Open. Grounded.

“Connected because every space relates back to the garden. Open because there’s a constant flow between inside and outside. Grounded because it feels stable and intentional, not decorative.”

Describe your favorite time of day here.

“Early morning. The light hits the garden first, then moves into the house. Doors open, cooler air, everything is quiet. You’re not looking at the garden — you’re in it, even when you’re inside.”

What’s the one thing you’ll miss the most?

“That constant connection to the outside. It changes throughout the day, and the house changes with it. It never feels static.”

“You’re not looking at the garden — you’re in it, even when you’re inside.”

Casa Entre Árboles is available now. If you’ve been searching for a home that feels genuinely different — one built with intention, not assembled from a template — this is worth a conversation.
